Struck Teams with Mullen to Launch GM Site
AUG 12_2008
Salt Lake City, UT – August 8, 2008 –Leading creative and design boutique Struck , announced today the launch of a new GM interactive web site: www.usedcarambush.com. The ‘Used Car Ambush’ experience was developed to educate and entertain consumers by depicting the risks associated with purchasing a vehicle from a private seller.
Working closely with GM agency-of-record, Mullen, Struck crafted a site that fuses GM’s Certified Pre-Owned manifesto with Candid-Camera antics. Struck’s myriad of skill sets merged with the latest interactive design technology to create a unique user experience.
“We were laughing our *beep* off while filming and editing these pieces with Mullen” said Gary Huck, the Design Director in Portland. “So we wanted to make sure the audience would not only do the same, but wrap it in a complete environment that expanded the experience. The site is meant to include you on these 'Punk'd' style surveillance moments and we understood that the more we focused on the details of the scene, the stronger the entire campaign would be.”
Struck was instrumental across all aspects of design, production, and development. The team was enlisted to build the set, stage a motion-controlled HD video shoot, and provide thorough development on the back-end of the site. In addition, Struck combined still and live footage together in a seamless online stream – all elements were combined using Flash 9 and AfterEffects.
The Used Car Ambush site will launch with six vignettes that are arranged interactively to replicate the perspective from inside a surveillance van, providing the user be part of the action and travel between scenes. Behind-the-scenes footage is also built in to the experience. Additional vignettes will be released throughout the remainder of the year.
