ENFIELD, Conn. (January 11, 2010) – Think of that little bolt of excitement that hits when the solution to a problem suddenly becomes clear. That’s a CLICK moment in action. Consider times when a great idea comes out of the shadows of the brain and needs to be shared. That’s a CLICK moment, too. Today, LEGO Systems launches a program to celebrate and foster these “CLICK moments”, jump-started by the company’s announcement of its first official iPhone application, LEGO® Photo, available for free at the iTunes App Store.

The hub of the program, LEGOCLICK.com – concepted by Pereira & O'Dell and design and developed by Struck/Axiom – is a virtual canvas of ideas, inspired moments, quirky stories, solutions and tips from serial CLICKers designed to celebrate and inspire CLICK moments of all types.

“We hope to motivate people to recognize, embrace, share and yes, chase, those unpredictable but powerful light bulb moments in life when things just CLICK,” said Michael McNally, brand relations director at LEGO Systems, Inc. “Exploring your imagination from a young age, daring to realize your ideas, creating stories and uses for what you create, solving problems that no one knew existed – this is the stuff of LEGO play, and is exactly what leads to a lifetime of CLICK moments.”

LEGO Photo is an application for iPhone iPod touch devices that lets consumers immortalize favorite things – or their own CLICK moments – in LEGO form. Again concepted by Pereira & O'Dell and design and developed by Struck/Axiom – users can simply choose a photo from an existing gallery or point the camera to snap a photo then touch the screen to watch their masterpiece build. Additional screen taps shows portraits in nine different color palette options. Celebrating CLICK portraits is easy. Users can upload to a social networking page, email it to grandparents and friends, print it--even tweet it using #legoclick.

LEGO Photo is available for free download from the iTunes App store; a link from the company’s blog at LEGOCLICK.com makes it easy to find the app directly. The best LEGO portraits use photos that are shot at close range against a light, solid colored background.

Fans of life’s CLICK moments can join the conversation on this blog that celebrates light bulb moments, grand or understated. A conversation about what makes things CLICK, the blog shines a light on those people whose ideas have helped to inspire others, or those little moments when an idea is incubated or launched. Guest contributors will share stories of how things CLICKed for them, ideas for how to find a CLICK moment and photo and video inspiration to tickle the inner creator in anyone.

To share personal CLICK moments, email LEGOCLICK@gmail.com, post a comment to the LEGO CLICK fan page on Facebook or send a tweet #legoclick.

Salt Lake City – August 18, 2009 – Struck, a hybrid creative and design agency, and Axiom Design Collaborative, a recognized name in entertainment and retail identity development, announced a strategic merger today. The collective expertise and talent of the new agency will breed a unique host of offerings, adding full-service branding and identity systems to their award-winning design services. As part of the merger, the firm will now be known as Struck/Axiom.

“Both Struck and Axiom have built their success on the concept of exceptional creativity. It’s a very natural fit for our two companies, who share a common thirst for world-class work, to combine forces,”said Jason Bangerter, co-founder and President of Struck. “We see a major opportunity to fill a void in the marketplace. More and more clients are seeking out strategic creative shops that can not only concept unique ways to get people talking, but deliver those ideas with internationally-recognized execution.”

The union formed after the thriving companies collaborated on yet to be announced rebranding projects, producing successful results and a compilation of fresh ideas. As a result of their creative prowess, Struck and Axiom are the only agencies in Utah featured in the coveted Communication Arts 50 Years of Creative Excellence issue, among receiving other internationally-recognized industry awards.

The newly formed 65-person agency will incorporate Struck’s hybrid approach to design, interactive and advertising with Axiom’s world-class branding, motion graphics, licensing and identity development.

“For the past 18 years, we have built our agency on innovative thinking and strategic focus and are well-positioned to launch into this new venture,” said Brent Watts, founder and owner of Axiom. “Our customers will continue to benefit from the legendary work we have always offered. Now coupled with Struck’s creative and technical genius, everybody wins.”

Struck was awarded interactive duties after a competitive pitch that involved more than 10 agencies. Struck is charged with the strategic development and execution of a new media campaign that will bring the brand proposition to life in an interactive format, and break through to an increasingly mobile audience.

The Little Gym offers age-appropriate, non-competitive curriculum for children of all ages. While the classes involve motor skill development and active learning, the real focus is helping children practice success by overcoming challenges and building self esteem. The concept has blossomed into a global company serving more than 150,000 children each year between the ages of four months and 12 years old at more than 300 locations in 20 countries.

“Their enthusiasm for our brand made our decision easy. This enthusiasm, coupled with a strong understanding of new media and unmatched creative expertise, enables us to identify new possibilities for our brand, “ said Paul Dickison, VP of Marketing for the Little Gym International.

Jason Bangerter, co-founder and President of Struck affirms, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Little Gym to help further expand their brand, both as parents who are aligned with their mission, and as professionals who thrive in the emerging era of social media.”

The announcement comes on the helm of several successful interactive initiatives from the shop, including microsites for adidas TECHFIT™ and adidas ClimaCool™, and BF Goodrich, and a trailblazing banner take-over of Nick.com for Nintendo Wii’s ExciteBots game.

Adidas Techfit Wins The FWA Site of the Day

Salt Lake City, UT - We’re happy to announce that the TECHFIT™ microsite that we recently launched for adidas has won an FWA Site of the Day.

adidas’ new line of state-of-the-art men’s training gear known as TECHFIT™ utilizes hi-tech Powerwebs to enhance muscle performance during training sessions. adidas enlisted us to design and develop the site that exclusively speaks to these products. As a whole, the site conceptually revolves around visitors taking each athlete to 100% by watching all of the video content. Additional percentage is then added by TECHFIT, taking the featured athlete beyond what they would be able to do alone.

The site design mimics the morphing and scaling of the TECHFIT™ Powerwebs, and uses a unique and complex liquid layout to keep the content together—while still allowing the web site to expand/contract fluidly. Video footage of the athletes was captured using a high-speed Phantom camera and the motion pieces for each athlete's landing page were created from a single still photograph. Papervision 3D controls the line and title copy, and the large resolution videos expand with the screen to create an engaging user experience.

Our interactive team implemented a variety of design and development tactics to bring the site to life. The dynamic data-driven site required overarching programming on the back-end, while Flash and Papervision provide face-value aesthetics. The design allows visitors the convenient ability to browse both videos and products, and thus aligns with adidas strategy to blend entertainment and commerce.

TheFWA.com has been awarding the site of the day since June of 2000, and has since become the most coveted interactive award in the industry. Featured sites are selected daily on criteria of cutting-edge design, navigation, motion, and the use of technology. The FWA now enjoys the title of the most visited website award program in the history of the internet, with over 24 million visits (as of July 2007) and the traffic curve continues to rise. A new visitor hits the fwa every 2.27 seconds, 24 hours a day. The global audience reaches 181 different countries.

Struck Creates Nintendo Interactive Experience With GSP

Salt Lake City, UT September 9, 2008 – Creative hybrid agency Struck announced today that the new site for Nintendo: www.mariosupersluggerscards.com reached 20,000 users. Designed to promote the new Mario Super Sluggers game for Wii, Struck worked closely with agency Goodby, Silverstein and Partners as the interactive partner to develop the layout, database and design of this experience. The login of the 20,000 user marked the doubling of the 10,000 user goal through the end of the year in approximately two weeks.

Struck programmed 41 total player trading cards of various Super Sluggers characters to be randomly delivered through interactive banners. The banners are part of an interactive buy of over 65 million impressions, all strategically rotating on sites like Nickelodeon and 4Kids to drive traffic to the main site. Participants can then combine their cards to get “double plays” of videos and screensavers, as well as trade cards with their peers.

"We created a highly interactive Flash site that is instantly addictive to both kids and adults,” said Jeramy Morrill, Design Director at Struck. “I would call that extremely successful.”

Struck’s well-rounded interactive team implemented a wide range of design and development tactics to bring the site to life. The dynamic data-driven site required Python and Django programming on the back-end, while Flash and Papervision provide face-value aesthetics and the convenient ability to drag and drop the trading cards.

In addition to the main site, Struck is also developing a mobile site that allows users to monitor their card collections via cell phone. This is the first time Nintendo has created an online component to promote its Super Mario characters. Struck’s expertise was instrumental in creating an experience that allows Super Mario fans to trade online cards and brings together an online community of Super Mario fans.

The sites main feature, a calculator-like tool, pits a car’s fun factor against its environmental impact and compares it against nearly 200 other vehicles.

“The most amazing thing about this Flash app is that the entire experience was developed to be delivered through a massive rich-media banner buy. To our knowledge, this is one of the most complete online experiences ever delivered through a banner,” says Jeramy Morrill, Struck’s Interactive Design Director.

Struck’s interactive team was responsible for the final design, motion graphics, texturing and development in Flash. The media buy, over 60 million impressions, dictated that the site be experienced entirely in rich media banner format, making it one of the most complete online experiences ever delivered through a banner. In addition, the design team contributed illustrations that were brought to life with extensive 3D animation, and Struck staged a photo shoot at a local MINI dealer to make sure the textures and other visual components to the site were spot on.

Working in collaboration with Butler Shine Stern & Partners – MINI USA’s agency of record – Struck played a crucial role in the design and execution of the site. In addition to the humorous approach, the micro-site takes a serious look at the ‘green’ factor of each car, highlighting the importance of social responsibility when making a purchase.

Struck Teams with Mullen to Launch GM Site

Salt Lake City, UT – August 8, 2008 –Leading creative and design boutique Struck , announced today the launch of a new GM interactive web site: www.usedcarambush.com. The ‘Used Car Ambush’ experience was developed to educate and entertain consumers by depicting the risks associated with purchasing a vehicle from a private seller.

Working closely with GM agency-of-record, Mullen, Struck crafted a site that fuses GM’s Certified Pre-Owned manifesto with Candid-Camera antics. Struck’s myriad of skill sets merged with the latest interactive design technology to create a unique user experience.

“We were laughing our *beep* off while filming and editing these pieces with Mullen” said Gary Huck, the Design Director in Portland. “So we wanted to make sure the audience would not only do the same, but wrap it in a complete environment that expanded the experience. The site is meant to include you on these 'Punk'd' style surveillance moments and we understood that the more we focused on the details of the scene, the stronger the entire campaign would be.”

Struck was instrumental across all aspects of design, production, and development. The team was enlisted to build the set, stage a motion-controlled HD video shoot, and provide thorough development on the back-end of the site. In addition, Struck combined still and live footage together in a seamless online stream – all elements were combined using Flash 9 and AfterEffects.

The Used Car Ambush site will launch with six vignettes that are arranged interactively to replicate the perspective from inside a surveillance van, providing the user be part of the action and travel between scenes. Behind-the-scenes footage is also built in to the experience. Additional vignettes will be released throughout the remainder of the year.

Salt Lake City, UT - July, 23 2008 - Struck continues to hone advertising expertise with the addition of Jeremy Chase, new Account Supervisor for the Utah Office of Tourism . Jeremy brings 12 years of agency experience at Drake Cooper in Boise - Idaho’s largest full-service ad agency.

Jeremy attended the University of Idaho where he studied Communication, and graduated with honors. For the past 6 years, he has led agency tourism and recreation accounts like the Idaho Travel Council, Sun Valley Company, Idaho Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Bogus Basin, and the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association.

While at Drake Cooper, he was part of an agency team that helped grow Idaho lodging tax collections to over $7 million annually. He also developed Idaho Tourism's online marketing strategy, successful cooperative advertising programs, and has served multiple venues as a conference speaker about the fusion of travel advertising and the online marketing medium.

“We’ve imported not only a great marketing mind, but a library of tourism specific expertise,” said Steve Driggs, Executive Creative Director. “We’re lucky to have him.”

Struck and the Utah Office of Tourism partner to create strategic marketing initiatives which include permeating print, broadcast, and online mediums with the “Life Elevated” brand. The 2007 integrated summer campaign generated over $851 million in additional direct visitor spending. For each $1 invested in media, Utah received a return of $216 in visitor spending. Similar success in the 2007-2008 winter campaign saw over $391.1 million in additional direct visitor spending, and every $1 spent on media grossed $180 in visitor disbursements.

You Tube Features Struck’s Work
for Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation

Viral Web Campaign Successfully Attaches Humor to Sensitive Subject Matter, Helps Spotlight a Cause Relatively Unknown

Salt Lake City, UT – June 26, 2008 – Months after the original launch of the Carpe Testes campaign last December, Struck’s unconventional spin on testicular cancer awareness has caught the attention of You Tube’s worldwide audience.

You Tube's homepage features selected videos from “trendspottingtuesday”, who exposes trends on You Tube every Tuesday. This week’s category was outside-the-box activism, and Struck’s work leads the pack with the most views. One day after it’s homepage debut, the “Sing-a-Long” video, created for the non-profit Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation , had received over 600,000 hits and hundreds of comments.

The Carpe Testes campaign is aimed at raising awareness of testicular cancer, primarily through self-examination. The campaign contains five unique videos, all of which address the taboo subject of testicular cancer under the tagline, “Be A Man, Self Exam”. Strategically, the videos are hosted on You Tube to drive traffic to the original campaign website www.carpetestes.org, where users can be entertained and educated on the cause.

“All of us at Struck, the Kimerling Foundation, and Cosmic Pictures had very high hopes for this campaign, so to see such a positive response is great,” said Nick Driggs, writer at Struck. “Hopefully the word will continue to spread, and testicular cancer awareness will become more mainstream.”

Although rare, testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men between the ages of 15 and 40. Each year, approximately 7,000 to 8,000 new cases of testicular cancer are diagnosed in the United States. Testicular cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer with an overall 5-year survival rate of approximately 95%. The complexity of treating the disease greatly increases and the survival rate declines as the disease progresses. The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation promotes early detection by emphasizing the importance self-examinations, and enlisted Salt Lake City based Struck to design a campaign with that priority.

Since it’s inception on the homepage, the “Sing-a-Long” video has successfully drawn attention to the other videos in the campaign, and all five videos have recorded a total of nearly 1.2 million views, and counting. Its popularity has made it a mainstay on You Tube’s homepage for the past three days. Cosmic Pictures also lent their creative expertise to the project.

Struck hit the mark more than once with judges who sought to award businesses that excel in their endeavors, use innovative approaches or methods, and contribute to a better quality of life in Utah.

Struck was recognized as the leading shop in two categories: Best in Web Design, and Best in Graphic Design. Remarkably, Struck has won the Web Design category three years in a row, and has been the selection for the Best in Graphic Deign twice.

The Best of State announcement comes after many triumphs this awards season. Struck
recently received an AIGA 100 Show Copper Ingot, as well as 6 gold and one bronze District ADDY Awards. Additionally, the Webby Awards gave nods to two original sites, MealsTogether.com, OfficialMancave.com and CarpeTestes.org.

The 2008 Best of State winners will be recognized at the Best of State Awards Gala, held Saturday, May 31st in the Salt Palace Grand Ballroom.

Struck designed and effectuated the groundbreaking OfficialMancave.com microsite for Alltel, the only site of its kind shot entirely on a steady cam. The Man Cave is being recognized as an Official Honoree. The site is part of a national, multiplatform ad campaign for the wireless carrier, which launched last August. Struck worked with creative agency Campbell-Ewald on the site.

Tribal DDB San Francisco engaged Struck to develop a powerful multi-brand site for Clorox called MealsTogether.com. This site is an official honoree in food and beverage category of the Webby’s.

Additionally, Struck created and executed the website CarpeTestes.org, for the non-profit Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation with the goal of raising awareness of testicular cancer. The agency created five unique videos that have been catching viewer’s attentions on the site itself, as well as YouTube.com. Carpe Testes is nominated in the Public Services and Activism Category, and is competing for two awards: The Webby Award, and the Webby People’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice Award will be open to public voting until May 1st, 2008, on the Webby Awards homepage.

Ryan Goodwin, Executive Design Director said, “Getting nominated for a Webby feels like a UFO sighting deep into a sugar-overload—you can't believe it could feel so good. Not to mention that the site supports such a great cause. Now if we could just win the popularity contest for People's Voice...”

As nominees, both sites are being recognized as one of the five best in the world in its category. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences and received nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 states and over 60 countries. Winners will be announced on May 6, 2008, and honored at The 12th Annual Webby Awards in New York City.

Struck Launches New Microsite for Specialized

Salt Lake City, UT – March 10, 2008 - Ryan Goodwin, Executive Design Director for leading creative and design boutique Struck (www.struckcreative.com), announced that the agency has developed an innovative web site for leading cycling company Specialized.

Struck concepted and executed the Designs For Women site, www.d4wgear.com, with specific features in mind. The site provides a platform on which female riders can explore the latest trends in gear, find companionship through clubs, and receive “how-to” advice. Additionally, the full-flash site is complete XML fed, which allows for the entire site to be repopulated with nearly any language and compliments the client’s worldwide markets.

"The D4W site is an exercise in beauty wrapped in functionality, " says Goodwin. "Users can sit back and relax while navigating through various outfits and environments, which is actually a very zen-like experience. Yet the way the site is cross-referenced and hyper-linked causes it to be a very effective resource as well."

Struck previously created Suspension Sciences (www.specialized.com/suspension) for Specialized. The experiential microsite was a perfect blend of 3-dimensional and traditional animation, and was designed to showcase the company’s new line of suspension bikes. Both sites are part of a national campaign developed with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Salt Lake City, UT – December 17, 2007 –Leading creative and design boutique Struck (www.struckcreative.com), announced that the agency has launched a viral web campaign for the non-profit Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation.

Struck created and executed the website www.carpetestes.org, which is aimed at raising awareness of testicular cancer, primarily through self-examination. The agency created five unique videos, all of which address the sensitive subject matter under the phrase, “Be A Man, Self Exam”.

Struck’s strategy includes introducing viewers to testicular cancer through the site. Online users are then able to direct friends, co-workers and others to the site for entertainment and education. In addition to the main site, the videos are also hosted on YouTube.com.

Steve Driggs, who joined Struck earlier this year after creating several successful campaigns while at Fallon Worldwide, utilized Struck’s in-house blend of talent to produce www.carpetestes.org. Cosmic Productions also lent their creative expertise to the project.

“The Kimerling Foundation gave us a huge amount of creative freedom. One of our main goals was to have fun with the subject, while still stressing the severity of testicular cancer. I think we accomplished both, and it really comes across in the videos” said Nick Driggs.

Struck has a long history with the FWA, where both Ryan Goodwin, Struck’s Executive Design Director, and MIke Kern, their Interactive Design Director, have been interviewed and are on the judges panel for the upcoming Site of the Year competition for 2007. Struck was actually awarded that title last year for their contributing effort on shaveeverywhere.com’ along with agency partners Tribal DDB in New York.

The Man Cave is the official lair of four diabolically awesome Dungeon Masters whose sole purpose in life is the utter destruction and humiliation of Alltel Wireless. As part of an integrated campaign conceived by Campbell-Ewald, Struck helped bring that creative vision to life by chipping in with design and development for the site.

The new site, www.utah.travel, is part of the agency’s integrated advertising campaign for the UOT, which also includes television and print elements.

The site is designed as a portal to steer people to www.utah.com, a second site where they can dig deeper into relevant information about Utah. "With Web visits to utah.travel up over 10,000 percent since the launch of the ad campaign, it was obvious we needed to provide a user experience that makes potential visitors feel good about Utah as a place they might like to visit," said Thomas Cooke, account director at Struck.

“The yin-and-yang marriage at Struck between the top-rate traditional marketing work at W and the innovative design work at Struck Design is a real-life example of how agencies in the future will blend the best of both worlds to create a nimbler, smarter, hyper-creative shop that is better equipped to meet the changing needs of clients and partners, said Driggs.

Jason Bangerter has worked as a design director on the client side, in numerous design studios and as an art director in an ad agency. After more than a decade of helping companies like Novell, TKO Advertising and Enrich realize their vision, Bangerter decided to get into the game for himself. In 2003, he and partner Ryan Goodwin officially opened the doors of Struck, leading it into the black from day one. Within two years, Bangerter’s entrepreneurial approach quickly earned Struck the title of “Fastest Growing Design Firm in Utah. As President and cofounder, he now leads the entire operation in the constant pursuit of progression and excellence. He holds a BFA in graphic design and currently resides with his wife and two daughters in Sandy, Utah.

“The economy in Salt Lake City is blazing. It's time that a creative shop kept up with that pace. We aim to be that shop, said Bangerter.

Ryan Goodwin is Executive Design Director and co-founder of Struck. After graduating from BYU with a BFA in graphic design, he began his business take-over. With a background in both print and interactive, he holds a unique ability to successfully direct the highest caliber teams in both disciplines. He has been responsible for overseeing the entire visual brands for numerous companies, helping them to grow and compete on an international level. Goodwin’s work has attracted accolades from the most significant publishers and organizations in both design and interactive industries including: CA, Print, ID, Step, and the AIGA. He has served on the local chapter board of the AIGA.

“There is power in great design, said Goodwin. “Great design can become part of our culture. It can become something people seek out. Something they talk about. There is also power in advertising to engage and break through the clutter. Struck's mission is to always keep the best ideas and the best design together. When that happens, something legendary is possible.

STRUCK partners have also endorsed the new agency. “Steve has proven himself to be one of the best art directors in the country, said Ari Merkin, founding partner and creative director at Toy NY, and former Chief Creative Officer at Fallon NY. “He's well respected in the creative community and just so happens to be one of the nicest, most sincere people you'll meet. I think its time to pay attention to the work coming out of Salt Lake City.

About STRUCK

STRUCK is an independent, full service creative resource headquartered in Salt Lake City whose partners across the country include Sweet’s Candy, Utah Office of Tourism, Fallon, Goodby, Toy NY and Strawberry Frog.
Salt Lake City, Utah – TheFWA.com, (Favourite Website Awards), announced today their pick for the envied Site of the Year award: shaveeverywhere.com. This campaign, created by Tribal DDB in New York and produced by Struck (a Salt Lake City design and interactive studio) beat out a competition of some 35,000 submissions strong. Through the year, judges announced 365 daily winners and a shortlist of 12 Sites of the Month. Then after two rounds of judging, the FWA named only one Site of the Year. Submissions to FWA.com are judged by executives from the best web design studios in the world.

TheFWA.com receives millions of visitors each year from a wide range of audiences. FWA selects and showcases future thinking, progressively designed sites and is widely recognized as hosting the number 1 achievement for innovative web design and production, the FWA Site of the Year award.

“Winning FWA’s Site of the Year is one of the most prestigious honors in the web design community, commented Ryan Goodwin, the Executive Design Director and Co-founder of Struck. “We are ecstatic.

The FWA Site of the Year recognition follows closely on the heels of recent coverage for this same campaign in the Wall Street Journal’s yearend wrap up of advertising as one of six Best Ads of 2006. (December 22, 2006 issue) Shaveeverywhere.com also won a Cannes Gold Lion and London International Award earlier this year.

Struck was hired by Tribal DDB, whose parent company is Omnicom Group, in February, 2006 to develop a lighthearted web site to sell Philips Norelco’s unique Bodygroom shaver. The site was developed in Struck’s Salt Lake City offices over the next two months and when it launched in April, 2006, the site drew tremendous attention from national media and the public. In just three weeks, Norelco had surpassed its 12-month sales goal for the razors and the sales success has continued to date. By late December, the site had already received over 1.8 million unique visitors. This site is truly a testament to the effectiveness of leading-edge viral marketing.

Struck frequently serves as a creative resource for other agencies and is able to provide services for fully integrated marketing campaigns including interactive, print, branding, product design, and advertising services. Struck is a result of a merger late last year that combined the forces of W Communications of Salt Lake City, Struck Design of Salt Lake City, and the talents of Steve Driggs, whose Citibank Identity Theft work won an Emmy for Best Commercial of the Year. Steve recently left work at Fallon, Minneapolis to return to Utah.
