We were all sitting in a room tossing out our ideas on paper for a prototype that we had built for our own DVD reel. Someone said, "I know of a cardboard sheet that is so thick it's almost like wood." We all looked at each other as the light bulbs went on around the room. By using birch wood that is normally used for model making and a semi-transparent plastic, the experience of receiving our reel was much more remarkable.
Each one is first sanded by hand and then assembled. A pain-staking process but we think it's totally worth it! We still have a few of these left for people we really like...
* A special thanks to our friends at Utah PaperBox for routing the wood and die-cutting the plastic for us. We couldn't have done it without you!
